I recently picked up the game of racquetball and “ran into” Cliff Swain, a professional racquetball player with the most wins in tournament history and 6 times ranked world number one. He showed me how to best execute the ‘backhand’. With a simple little movement with his arm, he showed me, “like this”. He demonstrated and I mirrored his movements forward, back, forward, back. I have practiced this move almost everyday. However, I didn’t quite get the feel that I was supposed to – it wasn’t working. Then after many months of practice, my backhand just said CLICK! The moment had arrived ….. I got it … the comparable stories are of course many … Moses leading his people into the desert, Odysseus’ trials, The hero’s journey … well … you get the idea … and I don’t want to over-do this …. so … whatever, it is … perseverance is one the great virtues ….. even, when one tries something as simple as wanting to play racquetball … Thank you Cliff ….
